The Rangers escaped with a hard-fought victory tonight at Upper Lions, barely defeating a dangerous Red Sox team 7-6 in a well-played and exciting game. After falling behind 5-2 in the fourth on a homerun by Julian of the Sox, the Rangers rallied for 5 runs in the top of the fifth. Kevin began the rally with a double, followed by Aaron's walk and Matt's single. After an out, Jack was hit by a pitch and Harry had an RBI fielder's choice. With two outs, the top of the order singled three times consecutively with Austin, Jackson and Henry all getting safeties, to give the Rangers a 7-5 lead. They then turned the ball over to Jackson after Henry's fine start on the mound, and the steady closer got the job done once again when the tying run was stranded on third as Eddie calmly tucked away the final out on a flyball to centerfield. Austin, Henry and Kevin each had two hits in the game.
The Rangers will close out the regular season Saturday and try to keep pace with the red-hot A's atop the standings.
