The Cubs broke out the bats in a big way Monday night at New Lions, pounding out 12 hits and outscoring the Red Sox by a count of 15-4. Ironically, David and Aiden set the tone in the top of the first defensively, each with a nice outfield catch. But the story of this game was the offense. Eight Cubs players had at least one hit, including David, Matt, Vince (4), Tucker, Andrew (2), Dylan (2), Alex and Aiden. David also had a painful RBI by taking one for the team with the bases loaded. Andrew and Dylan had a nice game behind the plate, with Dylan making an amazing diving catch on a pop foul inches in front of the Sox dugout fence. Marshall worked the first three innings on the mound before Dylan came in for three shutout innings (8 strikeouts). The Cubs will have a welcome break until Friday night when they take on the Pirates.
