The A's downed the Phillies 5-2 at Plaisted on Tuesday night, as Ben sparkled on the mound and at the plate for the Green Machine.
In his first start of the season, Ben pitched four shutout innings, allowing only two baserunners (a single and a walk) while striking out eight and at times overpowering a tough Phillies lineup.
With the game still tight, Dylan relieved Ben to start the 5th inning and shut the door, striking out four over two innings and yielding only two runs to earn the save.
The A's defense continued to shine, with plays being made all over the field. Eli and Alex again made great catches at key times in the outfield, and Brandon was rock-solid at first base.
The A's jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, on a Luke double and a Reese homerun, his second of the season. They added two more in the second frame, as Luke singled in Eli and then Finn stole home on a well-executed fake double-steal. Ben hit his second homer of the season in the third inning to close out the A's scoring.
The A's managed six hits on the night: Ben (homerun, double), Luke (double, single), Reese (homerun) and Andrew (double).
The A's improved to 3-4 with the win, and will next face the Rangers on Saturday.
